MUST UPLOAD HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA/GED AND CERTIFICATION
REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English. Two (2) years of related experience required; experience may be work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, community centers, or other similar experiences that would be acceptable to the District.
Must possess current certification in: 1) First Aid and Safety, 2) CPR or CPR for the professional, 3) Lifeguard certification program required.
PREFERRED:
Certification as a Water Safety Instructor and/or Instructor Trainer is preferred
SUMMARY Responsible for the lifeguard program, to provide supervision and to coordinate in-service training and schedule assignments under the direction of the Aquatic Center Coordinator. Assures performance pertaining to swimming pool operation, safety and maintenance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Assists in upholding and enforcing Aquatic Center rules, administration regulations, and state and local board policy. Assigns, supervises and evaluates lifeguards. Assures that pool area is monitored at all times. Reviews scheduled activities for Aquatic Center to assure the appropriate scheduling of lifeguards according to safety and compliance standards. Assures that all pool procedures are followed for reporting accidents and notifications. Reviews pool rules; provides interpretation and enforcement techniques for lifeguards. Interprets professional standards for lifeguarding and the current trends of water safety association and that of the ARC lifeguard program. Inspects and assures professional appearance of lifeguards. Assures the quality and quantity of First Aid and emergency supplies, as well as area neatness. Assists in the monitoring of pool operation and maintenance procedures. Assists with the monitoring of appropriate notices regarding pool rules and safety procedures for use
Schedules ARC lifeguard in-service training and keep record of staff certification status. Assists with the design of the users safety education program. Provides communication and serve as liaison between lifeguard staff and management. Assures that all safety codes are followed in cooperation with Lead Instructor and Aquatic Coordinator to insure Aquatic Center’s compliance with state, local and federal codes. Communicates with the public, students, parents, administrators and other pool users in a tactful, effective and professional manner. Acts properly and swiftly in the event of an incident or emergency. Knows and enforces all pool rules and policies. Performs lifeguarding duties when needed; practices preventive lifeguarding. Helps manage behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed. Assures protection of pool facility and equipment. Uses First Aid knowledge and techniques to give emergency First Aid. Assists individuals with special needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations as needed. Maintains physical fitness and lifeguarding skills through scheduled training. Participates in special events as assigned. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintains confidentiality. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees. Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested/required. Performs other related duties assigned by the Aquatic Center Coordinator
