REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, food service or business field  
  • Knowledge of state, local and school system regulations, policies and procedures for school nutrition. 
  • Knowledge of progressive discipline. 
  • Knowledge of the principles of sound nutrition, special diets, and requirements of Child Nutrition Program.  
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety practices related to food handling.  
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to school nutrition procurement activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain complex records and files, and to prepare reports from such data. 
  • Applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to school nutrition procurement activities. 
  • Markets and methods of invoicing, including prices, discounts and rebates.  
  • Ability to establish and maintain moderately complex records and files, and to prepare reports from such data. 
  • Considerate knowledge of computers and software applicable to school nutrition and related organizations. 
  • Considerable knowledge of state, local and school system regulations, policies and procedures for school nutrition. 
  • Excellent communication skills both in written form and orally.
  • Ability to deliver power point presentations. 

PREFERRED:

  • Master of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics, or food related field..
  • Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN). 
  • Food Protection Management Program Certification pursuant to the Texas Health and Safety Code.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish). 
  • Five (5) years of experience in school nutrition or under the direct supervision of school nutrition administration 
  • Five (5) years of multi-site management related to school nutrition

 The Supervisor, FNS will be responsible for a key area in the District School Nutrition Program (SNP) operation. The key areas include areas of Menu Planning, Nutrition Education/Marketing/Special Diets, Operations/Compliance and Human Resources.  The FNS Area Supervisor is responsible for administering, planning, assessing, implementing, and evaluating the assigned departmental function to meet the program needs. The school nutrition professional shall partner with others in the school district and community to solicit support for the development of a sound nutrition assistance food program while following federal, state, and local guidelines. The FNS Area Supervisor will provide programs that provide an environment that supports healthy food habits while maintaining program integrity and customer satisfaction.
