REQUIRED:
- Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate.
- Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in an accredited school, or equivalent experience working with individuals with dyslexia;
- Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of dyslexia and related disorders; and
- Demonstrate ability to follow regulations and implement them firmly and impartially.
PREFERRED:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
The Dyslexia Teacher must be knowledgeable of and able to implement local, state and federal policies and administrative regulations pertaining to educating, confidentiality, respect for family privacy, and the legislative rights of disabled children and youth. Must be able to supervise and monitor district-wide dyslexia curriculum/program implementation and instruction in the dyslexia lab setting, assist dyslexia teachers with needed and/or required classroom instruction and resources, mentor new dyslexia teachers, offer expertise in dyslexia instructional strategies, monitor development and implementation of appropriate and effective individual accommodation plans, and assist with campus level staff development. Performs other duties assigned by the Administrator for Section 504/Dyslexia in a manner consistent with the statues and standards of regulatory agencies pursuant to school board policy.
