MUST UPLOAD LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION
REQUIRED:
Current certification in: 1) First Aid and Safety, 2) CPR or CPR for the professional, 3) Water Safety Lifeguard approved certification program
PREFERRED:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred, but not required. Related experience preferred; experience may be work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, community centers, or other similar experiences that would be acceptable to the District. (certification as Jeff-Ellis & Associates Lifeguard preferred).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Assists in upholding and enforcing Aquatic Center rules, administration regulations, and state and local board policy. Communicates with the public, students, parents, administrators and other pool users in a tactful, effective and professional manner. Keeps a constant vigil on pool area. Follows pool procedure for reporting accidents and notifications. Acts properly and swiftly in the event of an incident or emergency. Knows and enforces all pool rules and policies. Practices preventive lifeguarding. Restricts personal conversation with users while on duty. Wears only approved uniform and maintains a professional presence. Performs emergency and first aid procedures according to safety manual and training. Communicates with pool users to assure safety first. Helps manage behavior of students (this includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed). Assures protection of pool facility and equipment. Uses telephone or other equipment to communicate emergency incidents. Uses First Aid knowledge and techniques to give emergency First Aid. Assists individuals with special needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations as needed. Assists in performance of facility maintenance and water testing tasks as assigned. Maintains physical fitness and lifeguarding skills through scheduled training. Attends all staff meetings, orientations and required training. Participates in special events as assigned. Provides orientation and assistance to patrons as needed. Documents time and activity reports as required. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintains confidentiality. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees. Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested/required. Performs other related duties assigned by the Head Life Guard or Aquatic Center Coordinator.
