DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
One (1) year of related experience and/or training. Maintains a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff. Assumes the responsibility for opening and closing the building each school day. Establishes procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and unchained and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy. Develops and maintains a cleaning schedule that will include the cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms. Monitors and directs the work of custodians. Directs and assists in setting up facilities for special events. Issues supplies and equipment. Resolves worker’s problems or refers matters to supervisor. Record’s employee’s hours worked on time cards or time sheets. Performs duties of workers supervised. Keeps the school building and grounds (including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas) neat and clean. Observes and informs supervisor of safety hazards. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash Inspects machines and equipment for safety and efficiency. Maintains an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and, with administrative approval, orders additional supplies as needed. Moves furniture or equipment within the building(s) as directed by the Principal/Administrator. Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Makes minor building repairs as needed and reports major repairs needed to the Principal/Administrator. Strives continually to promote the safety, health and comfort of students and employees in the performance of duties. Remains on the school premises during regular hours and during non-school hours as assigned, when the use of the building has been authorized and the school Principal/Administrator requires attendance. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintains confidentiality. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees. Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested/required. Performs any other duties as assigned.
