RESPONSIBILITY: The role of the Director is to promote, produce and direct information on and about the Brownsville Independent School District using effective newsletters, social media, marketing, print, video, and Internet communications.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To successfully perform in this role, the individual must have marketing experience and strong skills in writing, proofreading, editing, and desktop publishing. Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. The ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos is required. The candidate must also be capable of handling a variety of tasks, frequently adapting to changing assignments with little or no direction, and consistently meeting established deadlines.

 

PREREQUISITES:   

• Bachelor's degree in Public Information, Communications, Digital Marketing, Broadcast Journalism.
• Experience in newspaper journalism, radio, television, and/or public relations, with an emphasis in Social Media Strategies. 
• Three (3) years of work experience in journalism or communications.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)      

 PREFERRED: 

• Master's degree in Public Information, Communications, Information Technology, Broadcast Journalism.
• Marketing Experience
• Public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.  
• Experience in Public Information in an Educational setting.
