REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree;
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or enrollment in an Alternative Certification Program
- Experience working with students who have auditory impairments
- General knowledge of curriculum & instruction
- Able to communicate comfortably in sign language
The role of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject areas assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Work cooperatively with general education teachers to accommodate and/or modify curricula as needed for special education students with auditory impairments. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
